GK Report

Treasurer Report

  • The Treasurer, GK and 2nd Year Trustee have signature authority on checks.

Membership Report

  • The council currently has 91 Active Members. Two news additions transfers include Charles Yelle and Mike Shadroui. Two additional men have requested to transfer. They are Mitchell Pezdek and Rick Thelen. We will vote on these during the next meeting. Jerry Jackson has also expressed interest. Jerry will complete his RCIA on December 17th. All are encouraged to come.

  • Duane Krzysik was presented with a Father McGivney & Founders Award from Supreme for his growth of the membership over the previous Fraternal Year bringing in at least 5 new members. The award was presented by the District Deputy Ed Shaver.

Other Reports

Our programs as Knights of Columbus should help provide encouragement, engagement and evangelization to our parish and the community. We pray that Our Lord will accomplish His will and lead us to holiness, helping us work towards being better men and better disciples. 


Family Director – Jay Basinger

  • Family of the Month – Jay will be organizing a committee to assist with the submission and recognition of Family of the month.

  • Food for Families – Support Sister Mary Roberts Ministry. Knights are needed to bag up items and help load cars. We need to support Saturday morning from about 9-12. The date can vary month to month We should supply a minimum of 3-5 five guys every month. Next one is Nov 19th (T. D’Mello, G. Fischer, J. Robinson, B. Rippi)

  • World Marriage Day – 2/11. Knights to sponsor event. Others in church will assist.  Sue and Sam Tuluri are helping to head committee. Kickoff meeting was held on 9/11. Last meeting was 10/30. Next meeting is 11/20 and will included St. Patrick’s planning too. M Shadroui donated beer and wine for event.  Promotion has started with bulletin board and bulletin.

  • St. Patrick’s Day - Council agreed to put on World Marriage Day, St. Patrick’s event and 3 Fish Fries. Council suggested possibly scaling back dinner on St. Patrick’s to make more doable.  Planning meeting on Nov 20th at 6 pm to discuss. Celebration event is 3/11.

  • “No Greater Love” movie about Mother Teresa will be showing on Nov 2 at 7 pm at Concord Mills and Mooresville.  This movie will blow you away and inspire you. See the gospel being lived out.

 Faith Director – John Baughman

  • Into the Breach – a program to deepen men’s spirituality and formation to combat the crisis of religious faith in our world. We will cover a different topic each month. Fr. Eckert/Deacon Mazur will give monthly reflections during Men’s night. Supreme has a video for each topic. The council will have booklets for reflection and discussion. The discussion will be during the social. Video and small group discussion at social to follow. Last one (Leadership) was on Nov 3rd at 6:30. The next one is Dec 1st on Fatherhood

  • Holy Hour and Adoration – Knights are signed up for Holy Hour and Adoration on the First Saturday of every month from 7 am to 8 am (immediately before mass). Next one is on Dec 3rd.

  • Refund Support Vocational Program (RSVP) – Vocational Chairman Sal Potestivo will assist in communications and prayers for our two seminarians. The council will donate $500 each to be eligible for a refund of $200 from Supreme.

  • Rowan Helping Ministries

Life Director – Len Kobylus

  • Tuesday, November 1st was the Life Choices Rowan (Pregnancy Support Center) Annual Banquet.  The Knights will be supporting with a $500 donation. A grant application under the Aid and Support After Pregnancy (ASAP) program for $100 was sent to Supreme and approved.  Met with Cindy Johnson. FB posting on church site and Life Choices site about donation. S Potestivo and G. Fischer assisted with break down on Nov 2.

  • LAMB -Help those Least Among My Brethren – LAMB. Tootsie Rolls were sold after Masses for two weekends. A lot of brother Knights participated and helped raise over $1700. At the end of the year, we will get checks to support Arc of Rowan County and Special Olympics. Michael Hallett is checking on additional ways to raise money for LAMB. The Council voted to donate $400 to LAMB based on previous fundraising.

  • Special Olympics- Get our council plugged into the activities and needs of Special Olympics. Duane will get information to Len.

  • Room at the Inn - The Knights were invited to a meeting at Sacred Heart at 7 pm on Oct 3rd, to hear about the ministry at the Room at the Inn.  Len gave update at meeting.

Unfinished Business

  • D. Morris is working on KofC Sign for shed.

  • Shirts – Shirts are in and available for pick up.  XL and below $30, XXL $31 and XXXL $32

  • Seeking ways to assist Bilvia Sandoval after Walter’s passing. Working on details of recovering vehicle from airport, parking fees and getting new key made. Also working with Bob Gordon for Accidental Death policy.

New Business

  • Council agreed to pot luck dinner at Crescent on December 30th if available. Duane K to work on arrangements.

  • 100 Club Winners for the month – Richard Sunding $300, Glenn Thompson $150, Alexa Bartel $50
