December 2023 Business Meeting
GK Report
• Welcome to Logan Afton transferred to our council from Mooresville. Our newest Knight is Jerry Jackson who went through the exemplification this week

Treasurer Report – Updated membership with checking account balance.
Membership Report –
With the addition of Logan and Jerry, the council currently has 94 Active Members.
Other Reports
Our programs as Knights of Columbus should help provide encouragement, engagement and evangelization to our parish and the community. We pray that Our Lord will accomplish His will and lead us to holiness, helping us work towards being better men and better disciples.
Family Director – Jay Basinger
• Family of the Month – Jay will be organizing a committee to assist with the submission and recognition of Family of the month.
• Food for Families – Support Sister Mary Roberts Ministry. Knights are needed to bag up items and help load cars. We need to support Saturday morning from about 9-12. The date can vary month to month. Great support in December to help feed 60 families (T. D’Mello, J. Robinson, Mike S, Mike H, Chris C., Mark S, Ted B, Chuck Y, Bill W, Tom G) Next one is Jan 21.
• World Marriage Day – 2/11. Knights to support church event. DJ scheduled. Ticket sales to start in Jan 7. Others in church will assist. Sue and Sam Tuluri are helping to head committee. Next meeting is scheduled for 1/9. Promotion has started with bulletin board and bulletin. Let me know if you can help with ticket sales, initial setup, bartending or cleanup
• St. Patrick’s Day - Council agreed to put on World Marriage Day, St. Patrick’s event and 3 Fish Fries. Council suggested possibly scaling back dinner on St. Patrick’s to make more doable. Coordinating with Catholic Daughters and Gretchen for meal details. Next meeting scheduled for Jan 9. Celebration event is 3/11.
• Council Christmas Party was held on Dec 30th at 6 PM at the Cresent
Faith Director – John Baughman
• Into the Breach – a program to deepen men’s spirituality and formation to combat the crisis of religious faith in our world. We will cover a different topic each month. Fr. Eckert/Deacon Mazur will give monthly reflections during Men’s night. Supreme has a video for each topic. The council will have booklets for reflection and discussion. The discussion will be during the social. Video and small group discussion at social to follow. The next one is Feb 2nd on Life.
• Refund Support Vocational Program (RSVP) – Met with both Seminarians over the Christmas break. Noe attended the Exemplification on Jan 5th. He was presented his check there. Matthew will be mailed his check. The council will complete RSVP paperwork for a $200 refund.
Community Director – Duane Krzysik
• Assist Family Director with Food for Families – Support Sister Mary Roberts Ministry.
Life Director – Len Kobylus
• March for Life Charlotte – Jan 13. Gather at 11 am. Noon begin march. Speaker is Aaron Huber one of our two newest priest. Please let the GK if you plan to go.
• Still waiting on ASAP checks from Supreme.
• Life Choices requested the Knights to assist with painting assistance. Several rooms were painted on Dec 9th. Thank you to Logan Afton, Bill Washington and Mark Hartley. The were very appreciative (read letter)
• LAMB -Help those Least Among My Brethren – LAMB. Current donations are over $2100. At the end of the year, we will get checks to support Arc of Rowan County and Special Olympics. Michael Hallett is checking on additional ways to raise money for LAMB. Talked with supervisor at Belk about getting added to Belk Charity for LAMB. NEED TO SUBMIT END OF YEAR PAPERWORK AND REQUEST DONATION CHECKS.
• Special Olympics- Get our council plugged into the activities and needs of Special Olympics.
Unfinished Business
• D. Morris is working on KofC Sign for shed.
• Name badges ordered for new members and transfers
New Business
• 100 Club winners for Nov – Glenn Thomson $300, Monica Alfonsi $150 and Michele Antosek $50
• Nativity take down is scheduled for Jan 10th starting at 2 pm
