June 2023 Business Meeting Minutes

GK Report

• Welcome to Lee Fisher as a new member of our council.

• Certificates and name badges presented to Foday Dyer and Darrell Kimball.

• Communications – Web page https://salisburykofc.org/  and calendar of current events

• State Convention in Winston – Council recognition and on target for STAR council. Read YTD accomplishments (see attached)

• State Leadership Training in Greensboro. GK, DGK and FS

• New Service Program appointments for the upcoming year.

• Meeting with Church & CDA

     o Joined SH Strategic Planning Group with John Eckert Sr. Meeting 6/15.

     o Working on Fraternal Benefit & Information about Knights – open to parish. Look at coordinating with CDA.

     o Protecting God’s Children for church & Safe Environments Program


Treasurer Report – Updated membership with checking account balance. 


Membership Report –

The council currently has 95 Active Members.  Keith McBride, Jorge Delgado and Paul Noseworthy are potential new members.


Other Reports

Our programs as Knights of Columbus should help provide encouragement, engagement and evangelization to our parish and the community. We pray that Our Lord will accomplish His will and lead us to holiness, helping us work towards being better men and better disciples.


Family Director – Jay Basinger

• Family of the Month –

• Food for Families – Support Sister Mary Roberts Ministry. Knights are needed to bag up items and help load cars. We need to support Saturday morning from about 9-12. The date can vary month to month. The last one was June 17th. Next one is July 21st and 22nd.  Help needed since Bill, Tony and I will be at the State Training.

• Church picnic – 9/30

• Joint Christmas Party w/Catholic Daughters – 12/9

• Fraternal Benefits and Membership Blitz planning


Faith Director – John Baughman

• Into the Breach – a program to deepen men’s spirituality and formation to combat the crisis of religious faith in our world. We will cover a different topic each month. Supreme has a video for each topic. The council will have booklets for reflection and discussion. The discussion will be during the social. Video and small group discussion at social to follow.  The next one is July 6th at 6:30 on Spiritual Warfare.  Looking to change date to Wednesday after mass starting in September.

• Holy Hour and Adoration – Knights are signed up for Holy Hour and Adoration on the First Saturday of every month from 7 am to 8 am (immediately before mass). Next one is on July 8th

• Beverages with the Bishop – Held informal evening with Bishop Siby. Learned how fortunate we are. Seeking input on how to work with other church ministries to establish relationships and possibly help sponsor a seminarian. Bill Riippi to chair a subcommittee to follow up.

• Kannapolis Cannon Ballers – Council members were receptive to planning a family day event to go to a ballgame. Logan Afton will send out a survey and start the process.


Community Director – Duane Krzysik

• Assist Family Director with Food for Families – Support Sister Mary Roberts Ministry.


Life Director – Len Kobylus

• ASAP $300 Grant from Supreme - Life Choices Rowan. Presented 6/19 and added to church baby bottle campaign.

• LAMB -Help those Least Among My Brethren – LAMB. Deposited $323 in LAMB account from Belk Charity for LAMB. Money only came from ticket sales. Next Belk Charity will be in November

• Life Choices – Knights needed to set up for event on 9/14

• Special Olympics-


Unfinished Business

• 100 Club Ticket Sales – Assistance desperately needed. Prizes will not start until 8K raised (beginning July Business Meeting)

• Approve Budget

• Discussion of calendar

• Chris reported that the Youth Mission Trip is fully funded
