May 2023 Business Meeting

GK Report

  • Welcome to Hugo Trujillo and Foday Dye as a new members of our council.
  • Membership dues are entering second billing. Please make provisions for payment.
  • Communications – Web page https://salisburykofc.org/  and calendar of current events
  • State Convention in Winston – Council recognition and on target for STAR council. Read YTD accomplishments (see attached)
  • Status of filling our IRS tax postcard – Completed 5/24
  • Meeting with Church & CDA
    • Joined SH Strategic Planning Group with John Eckert Sr. Next meeting 6/15.
    • Dimmable lights – worked with Jim Brincefield to be able to switch each of 6 light strings
    • Coordinating scheduled with Catholic Daughters – currently Church picnic 9/30 and Christmas Party 12/9
    • Working on Fraternal Benefit & Information about Knights – open to parish. Look at coordinating with CDA.

 

Treasurer Report – Updated membership with checking account balance.  Budget Rough draft presented for review.


Membership Report

The council currently has 92 Active Members.  John Schoenberger and Tom Voignier transferred in. Jason Smereczniak is looking to transfer in.  Lee Fisher, Keith McBride and Paul Noseworthy are potential new members.

 

Other Reports

Our programs as Knights of Columbus should help provide encouragement, engagement and evangelization to our parish and the community. We pray that Our Lord will accomplish His will and lead us to holiness, helping us work towards being better men and better disciples.


Family Director – Jay Basinger

  • Family of the Month
  • Food for FamiliesSupport Sister Mary Roberts Ministry. Knights are needed to bag up items and help load cars. We need to support Saturday morning from about 9-12. The date can vary month to month. Last one was May 19 and 20 Next one is June 16th and 17th.
  • Church picnic – 9/30
  • Joint Christmas Party w/Catholic Daughters –.
  • Fraternal Benefits and Membership Blitz planning

Faith Director – John Baughman

  • Into the Breach – a program to deepen men’s spirituality and formation to combat the crisis of religious faith in our world. We will cover a different topic each month. Supreme has a video for each topic. The council will have booklets for reflection and discussion. The discussion will be during the social. Video and small group discussion at social to follow.  The next one is June 1st at 6:30 on Sacramental Life.
  • Holy Hour and Adoration – Knights are signed up for Holy Hour and Adoration on the First Saturday of every month from 7 am to 8 am (immediately before mass). Next one is on June 3rd
  • Kermes – We raised $609 in sales. Event raised >15K for church and will cover the expenses of the Feast of the Sacred Heart. Helped show unified support of parish. # possible new members from event. We will probably focus on drinks for next year.

Community Director – Duane Krzysik

  • Assist Family Director with Food for Families – Support Sister Mary Roberts Ministry.

Life Director – Len Kobylus

  • ASAP Applied for additional $300 based on money raised at Walk for Life - Life Choices Rowan. Got email it was approved. Waiting for a check from Supreme.
  • LAMB -Help those Least Among My Brethren – LAMB. Belk Charity for LAMB. Charity Sale is May 5th – 7th.  Raised over $300.
  • Walk for Life – Life Choices recognized the Knights and Fr. John for our efforts. Also received Volunteer of the Month.
