o SH Strategic Planning Group
Parish Ministries and individuals provide survey input. Member of SPC to meet with each ministry. Knights will be at next meeting on 10/30. Deadline 11/6
o KofC and Daughters area to display a few items in Brincefield Hall. Ideas needed.
o NC State Council will be presenting our Council with the STAR award for last year at the 1030 Mass on Dec 10th. All members are encouraged to attend. This award is for all the great work our members did last year.
Treasurer Report –
Updated membership with checking account balance. Logan Afton recommended that the checking account monies be separated into checking and savings (to earn some interest on savings), with checking keeping a minimum balance of $5000. Discussion. Approved by unanimous voice vote.
Membership Report –
Welcome to Jack Youngblood! He transferred into our council. The council currently has 98 Active Members. Need help developing a Spanish Degree Team.
Other Reports
Our programs as Knights of Columbus should help provide encouragement, engagement and evangelization to our parish and the community. We pray that Our Lord will accomplish His will and lead us to holiness, helping us work towards being better men and better disciples.
Family Director – Chris Castille
• Family of the Month – Susan & David Grathwohl.
• Knight of the Month – Mike Shadroui
• Food for Families – Support Sister Mary Roberts Ministry. Knights are needed to bag up items and help load cars. We need to support Friday 6-8 pm and Saturday morning from about 9-12. The last one was Nov 17 and 18st. Seventy families were served. 86 Turkeys were donated (at least 27 were provided by Knights and their families). The next SMRM is 12/15 and 16. This will be a large event as well.
• Joint Christmas Party w/Catholic Daughters – Due to some misunderstandings and a vote by the CDA, there will not be a combined Christmas Party this year. We are working on alternate arrangements at the Revival at the Cresent after Christmas. Details will be shared as soon as they are available.
Faith Director – Duane Krzysik
• Parish Mission 10/16-18.
• Men’s Knight - COR The last one was Nov 1 at 5:50 Wednesday after Mass. The last one was not well attended. Please provide feedback on how to improve our faith development.
• Holy Hour and Adoration – Knights are signed up for Holy Hour and Adoration on the First Saturday of every month from 7 am to 8 am (immediately before Mass). Next one is on Dec 6th.
• Support for Bishop Siby Seminarians – Under Aid the Church in Need These are the current projects being funded by ACN: Do we want raise funds for this or contribute individually? How can we get church involved.
• Nativity set up scheduled for 12/16
• Refund Support Vocations Program (RSVP) – $500 checks will be requested soon to support out seminarians, Matthew Harrison and Michael Herman
Community Director – Jim Bertrand
• Soccer Challenge- 16 boys competed and 6 winners at the Sacred Heart School Octoberfest on Oct 14th. Results were publicized on council website and bulletin. Thanks for all the help.
• Coats for Kids – 12 boys and 12 girls coats purchased from Supreme. 12 boys and 12 girls coats purchased from Supreme. Coordinated with Wendy Malloy and distributed coats on Nov 18th at SMRM.
• Food for Rowan Immigrant Families - Mike S coordinated with Sister Mary Roberts Ministry and provided 20 immigrant families with food in October.
• Rowan Helping Ministries – A dinner of Shepherd’s Pie, Salad, Apples and Rolls were served on Nov 17th by seven Knights to about 40 individuals. Many came back for seconds. Breakfast was served on Nov 18th by four Knights to a similar group.
Life Director – Len Kobylus
• Life Chain –Knights joined other parishioners at corner of Innes and Main on Oct 1st. The event had good church support. The Council also purchased new signs for Barbara Franklin.
• Room at the In Benefit Banquet & Life Choices – ASAP checks (for $100 each) have been received from Supreme and presented to both charities.
• Special Olympics- Knights have joined the Special Olympics Committee. The last meeting was Nov 14th at 6 PM. Our council will form a fundraising team for the Polar Plunge. We will also participate in the event on Saturday, March 2 at 1 pm. Our council will also supply volunteers for the Spring Games on April 10th at West Rowan HS. Let Greg or Len know if you can be a golf partner. Special Olympics need support here.
• Belk Charity – Knights also participated in Belk Charity on Nov 3rd to raise money for LAMB. We sold tickets in the store and displayed information about LAMB.
• LAMB – Thank you to all those who helped sell Tootsie Rolls after Mass in October. LAMB funds raised to date $1721. Lamb funds will be used to support the Special Olympics in Rowan County.
4th Degree Report
Next meeting 3rd Thursday at Gil Hall in Concord or via Zoom. New uniforms may be back ordered.
