Chaplain’s Message

  • Father Dimock opened with “The Prayer to St. Joseph” that was composed by Pope Leo XIII.

To be said after the Rosary, especially in the month of October.

  • Father discussed St. Joseph’s relationship with Jesus, and how it pertains to us as members of the Knights of Columbus and members of the Church.

GK Report

  • Thank you to all the knights that came out to Octoberfest and helped cook and to the knights who assisted with the Soccer challenge at the school.  Winners of different age categories were given a soccer ball, mesh bag, and pump.
  • Congrats to Logan Afton who is our new KofC insurance Agent. With his new Position Logan can no longer hold an officer position in the council, we need a new treasurer.  Jim Bertrand has been selected as a new Treasurer.
  • Presented a $300 check from Supreme to Rowan Life choices, we still need to give them a $500 check.
  • 100 Club Tickets are all sold and we will draw tonight. Special shout out to Michael Hallett for his leadership and drive helping us sell tickets this year.  You have been instrumental in our success.
  • LAMB sales are going strong.
  • GK Greg Fisher discussed opportunity offered by Belks. Tickets that can be sold at any time, that provides a discount at their “Charity Day Sale”. If the customer buys anything, on those days they get their money back along with other discounts. All the money collected for these tickets goes straight to LAMB. Presale of tickets October 29th thru November 7th. Tickets can be sold at the store during the sale at appointed time slots.
  • Saints Alive is Saturday October 26th at 5:30pm.  Knights will be cooking food.  Need knights there prior between 4-4:30pm top set up. Joe Shaffer to Look into bringing Buns and Sausages, we have left over hot dogs from Octoberfest to cook.
  • Saints Alive is a school function, like Trunk or Treat, but students dress up as Saints.
  • December meeting falls on Christmas Eve. That meeting will be skipped.
  • November is the Month for the Knights to assist with Friday Dinner and Saturday Breakfast for Rowan Helping ministries.  November 15th and 16th.  Need 8 trays of Ziti for dinner.  Need volunteers to sign up. There will be a sign-up emailed.
  • Thank to Len Kobylus for purchasing the Right to Life sign hanging on the Fence at the Front of entrance on Lumen Christi Lane.

Financial Report (Treasurer) – Logan Afton

  • Checking Acct Balance $ 31,905.97. 
  • Outstanding Dues Balances several members still need to take care of dues. Please take care of ASAP. If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please talk to the GK. He can authorize waiving dues. Grand Knight, Deputy Grand Knight and Chancellor to Work on list.

 

Membership Report – Len Kobylus

  • The council currently has 103 Active Members.  Sean Flemming is a new member and needs an Exemplification.

Other Reports

Our programs as Knights of Columbus should help provide encouragement, engagement and evangelization to our parish and the community. We pray that Our Lord will accomplish His will and lead us to holiness, helping us work towards being better men and better disciples.


Program Director – Darrell Kimball

 

Family Director – Chris Castille

  • Family of the Month –
  • Knight of the Month – 
  • Food for Families – Support Sister Mary Roberts Ministry. Knights are needed to bag up items and help load cars. We need to support Friday 6-8 pm and Saturday morning from about 8:30-12. The last one was 9/20 & 10/21. Many Knights came out over 2 days to make this a success. The next SMRM is 11/15 & 11/16.

 

Faith Director – Duane Krzysik

  • Holy Hour and Adoration – Knights are signed up for Holy Hour and Adoration on the First Saturday of every month from 7 am to 8 am (immediately before Mass). Next one is on Nov 2nd.

Community Director – Jim Bertrand

  • Need to have soccer challenge earlier next year so winners can go to District Challenge.
  • Next Men’s Evening of Reflection – Thursday, November 7th @ 6:30pm in the Art Room.
  • Coats for Kids – Annual coat drive takes place in the fall and will be distributed just before Thanksgiving.  Need to place initial order through supreme, and coordinate program.  Bring new or gently worn coats to Narthex. Need for next SMRM on November 16th.

Life Director: Len Kobylus

  • Bring gently used coats to next SMRM. November 15th and 16th.
  • Prayer chain was poorly attended again this year. We need to improve.
  • Polar Plunge will be on March 1st
  • Spring Games March 27th  at Catawba College and April 10th at West Rowan HS
  • Mentioned that an RCIA candidate attended a “Pints with a Priest” meeting and really enjoyed it and had nothing but positive things to say about it.

  • Anyone not receiving Fourth degree information that should, please see Darrell ASAP

Insurance Agent Report – Logan Afton

  • Would like to be an educator for the Parish and not the sales guy.
