September 2024 Business Meeting Minutes

Chaplain’s Message: Father Dimock

• Father discussed and wants to continue discussing the importance of “Fraternal Support” in our

Council and in our Parish. Men need this support for our Council and Parish to grow in it’s Faith.


GK Report

• Minutes from the previous meeting on August 27, 2024 approved

• 2024-2025 Budget approved

• Life Choices Rowan Dinner Thursday Oct 3rd, Tickets are $50 each, Sacred Heart to have 5 tables

• Knights will present check at “Life Choices Dinner”.

• Oktoberfest on Saturday October 12th at the school. Knights are requested to cook hot dogs and

Burgers supplied by school from 0900 till 1300

• All knights who will be volunteering for Fish fry need to have safe environment training

completed

• Outstanding Balance Report- Deputy and Chancellor to help

• Father Dimock is holding a “Pint with a Priest” meeting at New Serum Brewing Company every

4th Monday of each month at 6pm. All are welcome.

• 100 club has been a Success so far, All of the Tickets have been Spoken for, Deposits are being

made, received additional Donations. More than 90% of Ticket Funds have been Collected.

Drawings to Start next Month in October

• We can have 1 more raffle yet this calendar year.

• We will need to donate $ 500 to continue having a banner in the gymnasium. Contact School

about where and when Money needs to be Collected

• Meetings will now be held in the School Math Room, for Men’s Night and for the Business

meetings


Financial Report (Treasurer) – Logan Afton

• Balances not discussed due to having visitor present

• Logan and Bill Met with Michael Becker about BBQ Pit, Raffles, Casino Night, Bingo, 50/50.

• Needed for BBQ Pit : a plan for the maintenance of the pit, approval of group in charge of the

Pavilion, acceptance of the insurance company, and final approval of Father John.

• Bingo discussion tabled until next July 2025, to be taken up with budget discussions.

• World Marriage Day raffle discussed but not finalized.

• Fish Fry Dates are March 7th, March 28th, and April 11th

• Outstanding Dues Balances several members still need to take care of dues. Please take care of

ASAP. If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please talk to the GK. He can authorize

waiving dues. Grand Knight, Deputy Grand Knight and Chancellor to Work on list.


Membership Report – Len Kobylus

• The council currently has 103 Active Members.

• New Member Sean Flemming - Will work on Exemplification.


Other Reports:

Our programs as Knights of Columbus should help provide encouragement, engagement and

evangelization to our parish and the community. We pray that Our Lord will accomplish His will

and lead us to holiness, helping us work towards being better men and better disciples.


Program Director – Darrell Kimball


Family Director – Chris Castille

• Family of the Month – Mike and Denise Hallett

• Knight of the Month – Nick Cianciosi

• Food for Families – Support Sister Mary Roberts Ministry. Knights are needed to bag up

items and help load cars. We need to support on Fridays between 6-8 pm and Saturday

morning from about 9am-Noon. The last one was 9/20 & 21st. Many Knights came out

over 2 days to make this a success. The next SMRM is 10/18 & 10/19.


Faith Director – Duane Krzysik

• Holy Hour and Adoration – Knights are signed up for Holy Hour and Adoration on the

First Saturday of every month from 7 am to 8 am (immediately before mass). Next one is

on Oct 5th.

• There is a drastic need to improve attendance at Men’s Night. More

announcements everywhere are needed. Father Dimock has offered to stay in town

on Thursday nights. He requested we send an email to him and Father John to

remind them of the event.

• Refreshments at Men’s night was a Success, Thanks to Nick.


Community Director – Jim Bertrand

• Next Men’s Evening of Reflection – Thursday, October 10th @ 6:30pm in the Math

Room.

• Support @ Sister Mary Roberts Ministry on Saturday 9/21 was a success, 41 Families

were served. Thanks to all for coming out. Next SMRM event is Saturday, 10/19.

• Oktoberfest will be held again this year on Saturday, October 12 – Knights will be grilling

hot dogs from 9am – 1pm. Also, we’ll be hosting again the youth Soccer Challenge. This

will take place around 11:30am – on the soccer field, after the 5K trail race is completed,

will run for about 2 hours, or until everyone has competed. Provides an athletic outlet

for young people ages 9 to 14 through penalty kick competition designed for players to

demonstrate their skills. Materials have been ordered, Jim to coordinate with Erin

Brinkley – to post sign up info in the school, and also add to the weekly bulletin. Anyone

interested in helping this year to either cook or help with the soccer challenge, please

sign up.

• Coats for Kids – Annual coat drive takes place in the fall and will be distributed just

before Thanksgiving. Need to place initial order through supreme, and coordinate

program. Bring new or gently worn coats to Narthex.


Life Director: Len Kobylus

• The “Pro-Life Prayer Chain for 2024” An event sponsored by Sacred Heart Church is

tentatively scheduled for Sunday October 6th . Attendance has dwindled over the years.

This event is open to all, not just Catholics. Len suggests inviting a neighbor. More

announcements about the event would help.


Insurance Agent Report – Bob Gordon

• Report on Annuities offered by K of C

• Announced that Logan Afton will now be the agent for our Council and Parish


DD Report –

• 4th Degree Exemplification will be held in Raleigh on October 12th

• A company is taking old regalia (capes etc.) removing the silk and providing it for burial cloths

for infants and children. Please bring what you have to the next meetings.

• Grand Knight Greg Fisher received, for the second year in a row, “The Star Council Award” for

our Council !!

• Grand Knight Bill Riippi also gave Grand Knight Greg Fisher a jacket for his leadership and service

to our council these past years.


New Business –

• Pro-Life Prayer Chain for 2024. Has asked for Donations for 10 Signs to hold and display for this

event. $10 each. – Funds for the “Pro-Life Prayer Chain” signs and banner were approved.

• Any Knights who can help at any of the Masses to recruit new members, both English and

Spanish speaking, please see Bill Riippi or Len Kobylus, or simply show up outside after Masses.


Good of Order – Greg Miller, Bishop Jugis, Dan Krzysik, Pat Carson, Tamra Clemmons, Esther

Youngblood, Bill Washington, Leona Desch, Simon Desch, Chuck Yelle, Anna Robinson and Sue Tuluri,

Brian Blankenship, Ken? at St. Thomas Aquinas having Liver Surgery on October 26th , Gretchen as her

Mother passed away.
