Chaplain’s Message

GK Report

  • Minutes from the last meeting, which was emailed to all members, was approved.
  • Thank you to all the Knights that came out to Sister Mary Roberts on Saturday April 11th & 12th
  • Our Sponsorship Flag is up in the School Gymnasium, on the Far-Left Bottom row.
  • Thank you to all the Knight who helped make our Last Fish Fry a Success. And Thanks to all the Knights that Contributed to any and all of the Fish Frys, we couldn’t have done it without you all.  Your help was greatly appreciated.
  • Bill Riippi and Darrell Kimball are Registered for the State Convention in Hickory on May 16th-18th

Financial Report (Treasurer) Jim Bertrand

  • Checking Acct Balance $ 29,550,.81
  • The Fish Fry events were very successful.  Total gross receipts were $5168. Expenses were - $2164.77 and we have (2) boxes of flounder left over.
  • Checks written for the month of March included:

- K of C Supreme Council - $235.75

- Friends of Scouting - $500

- NC State Convention (GK and DGN) - $280

- Catholic Daughters of America - Festival of Tables - $200

  • Deposits

- 50/50 raffle (during first Fish Fry) - $50

- K of C State Raffle Tix (sales during 2nd and 3rd Fish Fry's) - $237.50

  • Outstanding Dues Balances several members still need to take care of dues. Please take care of ASAP. If you are experiencing financial difficulties, please talk to the GK. He can authorize waiving dues. Grand Knight, Deputy Grand Knight and Chancellor to Work on list.

Membership Report Len Kobylus

  • The council currently has 103 Active Members.  Len has 2 Potential Members.  Sean Flemming is a new member and needs an Exemplification, and a new online Member Ernesto needs an exemplification and vote.
  • Hoping to have an Exemplification at our business meeting on May 27th
  • Possible to have dues waived for those that can’t pay, if they can participate in our events. Young Dad’s with family responsibilities in particular.

Other Reports

Our programs as Knights of Columbus should help provide encouragement, engagement and evangelization to our parish and the community. We pray that Our Lord will accomplish His will and lead us to holiness, helping us work towards being better men and better disciples.


Family Director – Chris Castille

  • Family of the Month – Chuck and Cindy Desch
  • Knight of the Month –  Nick Cianciosi
  • Food for Families – Support Sister Mary Roberts Ministry. Knights are needed to bag up items and help load cars. We need support Friday, May 15th from 6-8 pm and Saturday morning May 17th from about 8:30-12.

Faith Director – Duane Krzysik

  • Holy Hour and Adoration – Knights are signed up for Holy Hour and Adoration on the First Saturday of every month from 7 am to 8 am (immediately before Mass). Next one is on May 3rd.
  • There is a drastic need to improve attendance at Men’s Night. More announcements everywhere are needed. Father Dimock has offered to stay in town on Thursday nights. He requested we send an email to him and Father John to remind them of the event. We are watching the Series the Gospel of Work.
  • Refreshments will be served at Men’s night. Next Men’s night is Thursday May 1st in either the Art or Math Room at 6:30pm

Community Director – Jim Bertrand

Life Director: Len Kobylus

  • Special Olympics is looking for a Swim Coach, anyone interested please contact Len.
  •     Mike Shadroui and Chuck Desch helped at the Special Olympics at West Rowan HS. Mike delivered the Invocation for that event.
  •      On May 14th  at 9am, the  Salisbury Police Department will have a torch run; all proceeds will go directly to Special Olympics, if you can participate or make a donation.
  •     Len (Thumper) participated in the Senior Special Olympics, and had a humbling experience. Would appreciate others joining him in the future.

Deputy GK Darrell Kimball

4th Degree Report

  • Anyone not receiving Fourth degree information that should, please see Darrell ASAP
  • Two new 4th Degree Knights – Chris Castille and Jim Betrand – Congratulations!
  • We are still supporting the Hospice House at the VA. There will be another Memorial Service in May. A Color Guard is needed.

Insurance Agent Report Logan Afton

  • Handout discussing “Goal Setting”. Logan would like to help you with any goal setting or financial planning questions you might have.

DD Report  

  • Had a good year this year! Hopefully another “Star Council” year coming up.

New Business  

100 Club Winners for April

  • $300 – Scott Denhard     $150 – Jim Bertrand       $50 – Deloris Malzahn

Nominations for Officer Positions; Officers will remain the same for the upcoming year.

Need a Committee to discuss Zoom or Facetime Meetings for Brother Knights unable to attend.

April 25th Young Adults Cookout- Knights are needed to assist. Starts at 6:30pm at the Pavilion. Good opportunity to present what the Knights do in our parish. $500 in funds was approved for the cookout.

May 10th after 8am Mass there will be a meeting with Arin Price and Jay Basinger to discuss security at the Parish and school. It’s a 3 hour program that will be held somewhere in the school. This needs to be approved by Father John. Please keep this meeting low key.

May 17th will be the NC March for Life Bus Pilgrimage to Raleigh for a day trip, Details in the Bulletin.
